Throughout the year, WARA members will put on or attend various events, such as antenna creation events, beach parties, barbecues, and Field Day. You can find information on upcoming events here, as well as pictures and other interesting information about past events.
On a Regular Basis
Western Amateur Radio Association Weekly NET - Wednesdays
Please join us every Wednesday for our weekly club Net on the N6ME Repeater 145.400 minus 600 PL 103.5 and 224.180 minus 1.6 PL 103.5
Guests and visitors are always welcome and encouraged to participate.
The Net begins at 8 PM (20:00) and runs about 40 minutes.
There will be Check-ins, Club information and news, and then Newsline played.
Chino Hills Swapmeet
3rd Saturday of every month at Chino Hills High School
The BEAT GOES ON and our ham booth is standing tall at the OC FAIR ! Good DX on the new antenna placement , and even some 10m contacts , too ! And even 75 meters off the 40 meter antenna ! HF working swell . Fun on ATV - best DX was Argentina , via an ATV video link , through the internet , and then on to the ATN Santiago repeater . The helmet CAM was fun on the Ferris wheel , too - great DX !
This week in radioland.......
Wednesday , July 28 , the 78's club locks and load , with K6VEC assisting , noon to close .
Thursday , July 29 , it is the West / Coast Amateur radio club , noon to close . I know where that club began !
Friday , July 30th , MESAC opens at noon , and Orange County RACES takes over in the evening . Check out those uniforms !
Saturday , July 31 , Western Amateur Radio Association has a full day , from 10 am to close , fun for all their great team members ! George will bring the metal detector .
Sunday , August 1 , your Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross will staff the booth , from 10 am to close , with some special events planned throughout the day with Kevin and the Hard Hat cam !

Bill has agreed to be our guest speaker for our August Club meeting.
For WARA this is a once in a life time chance. Since we have been a very Big Field Day Club in the past, he will be speaking and showing a movie about Field Day 1971 featuring the PARC radio club. Dennis's topic is: "Grounded in Safety" Lessons in proper safety (electrical and lightning) grounding
of your equipment and antennas. Do's and don'ts with simple solutions. Not to be confused with RF grounding
which is an entirely separate topic.
During the June 7th meeting a 50/50 drawing was held.

General Meeting - Emergency Communications Preparedness
Wayne Barringer, KB6UJW gave a very informative talk on the importance of being prepared for emergency communications in the event of an emergency situation, be it man-made or natural disaster. One of the KEY issues presented was the radio operator's
ability to field program their radio.
